Hercules

Best Recap Available

Although there is very little news in the way of spoilers, there has been some news in terms of the spin-off possibilities. I was going to recap this on my own, but Hercules beat me to the punch. The source, Chet, got in touch with both of us. What follows is the info Chet passed along to myself, but be sure to check out Herc's recap at Aint It Cool News as well because it has other interesting information. Though in terms of spoilers, the only other tidbit he posted was a possible title for Episode 20. Written by Rebecca Rand Kirshner, titled 'Touched'.

Just got back from seeing Jane Espenson speak here at Ball State University. It was mostly a Q&A session, with one very interesting point. When asked about the spinoff, Jane responded that there will be no Faith spinoff due to Eliza taking another pilot. She mentioned a possible "Slayer School" spinoff, using some of the Potentials (who would be recast), but that did not seem that likely as it doesn't feel right, and would most likely not happen unless Joss changed his feelings about it. No mention of the Willow spinoff, but the feeling was that there will be no spinoff.

Other highlights include :

- Jane will be writing for Gilmore Girls next year.

- Anya was never meant to be a recurring character. She was originally meant for two episodes, but Emma Caulfield was kept on for good acting, basically because she was funny. The original actress for Anya (no name was given) chose not to pursue the role because it was for only two episodes.

- Afterwards, I got to meet her face to face. I thanked her for everything, specifically the show, and then I quickly asked if they had written the next Buffy game, to which she replied "No, the guys that did it came and asked us a few questions, but they wrote it themselves." She probably thought I was talking about the first game, but either way, they didn't write the second game.

I can't confirm the episode information, but I do believe it's valid (especially since Herc feels confident enough to report it). If Marti Noxon is not writing one of the final episodes due because she's working on her pilot, then Rebecca would be an ideal replacement.

As for the spin-off, again it seems to make some sense. There seems to be a lot of rumors and speculation about possible spin-offs, but it has always been my belief that Faith would have been the leading candidate. Strangely enough, Jane's idea of a "Slayer School" spin-off could fit one of the other scenarios that I had heard about. So will we be Slayer-less in the 2003-2004 TV season? I'm going to hold off on judgement until after the finale airs.

Don't forget, new Buffy this Tuesday. The links are activated on the homepage for the Wildfeeds.
