Clarification, Pictures, Adam

Spoilers vs. Speculation

One of the hard things about translating raw text into spoiler summaries, is that things can get lost in the translation. I can also use a word, which might have different meanings to different people. So I just want to set a clarify a few things, so that people don't jump to the wrong conclusion.

Spike and the Crucifix

I'm was raised Roman-Catholic, so when I refer to crosses, I will usually call them a crucifix. Unfortunately, there is a distinct difference between a cross and a crucifix (or so I've been hearing). Bearing that in mind, I'm sure that the cross Spike grabs is your generic cross (and not a crucifix - which features the body of Christ).

Another conclusion that many jumped to was that Spike does this because of something Buffy says or does. That is not the case, based on the information I have. Everything continues to point to Spike being as 'mad as a hatter' in these early episodes, the cross-grabbing is just an extension of that.

Again, I don't know what we will see when the episode actually hits the air. There's a chance that some of this could be edited out.

How Willow Gets To The States

Immediately after I posted, a couple of my sources chimed in with more information on Willow. The one who originally passed along this info, clarified that there is a scene at the airport. When Willow arrives, some of the Scoobies are there (but they can't see her for some reason). As I mentioned yesterday, it smelled like a teleportation accident, but that was my own speculation. Which still begs the question of how Willow ends up 'out of sync' with the world. In the end, it seems that Willow is the cause, because she didn't feel up to being 'seen' by her friends (vague, but it seems that it only affected those who were at the airport).

Right now, the biggest question I have is Willow's status with Magic. We know that she's in England with Giles, and from info that accompanied the pictures, it states that Giles is helping her 'control' her magic. I'm going out on a limb (and this is speculation), but I think that because of the magicks involved at the end of last season, magick has literally become a part of Willow. She might be able to cast spells without even consciously trying, or she literally might not be able to live without magic. Obviously, following the shows tradition, there will have to be some price or consequences to her actions. This could be one of them.

Not As Fast As A Polaroid

Briefly, just for anyone who hasn't had a chance to see the pictures that I mentioned earlier this week, they are up at Comics Continuum

Madam, I'm Adam

Numerous fans emailed me information about George Hertzberg and Mark Lutz appearing on a British TV show this morning. In it, George stated that he did film a scene for the season premiere, and that it won't be the last we see of him this season. Everything is pointing to Spike either seeing the various 'Big Bads' in the first episode, or seeing a creature that morphs between them. Does this mean there will be a 'shapeshifter' Big Bad during the first part of the season? I'm still not convinced, especially with the 'state of mind' that Spike is in right now.
