Bits On The Finale

Slowly Trickling In

Several small but interesting tidbits about the final episode of Buffy have started to appear. The first is information coming from Kristin at E! Online, who spoils that Spike might not die, but rather pull a Judge Crater and simply vanish. A couple of the more spoilerly comments...

From rene_artois: Without naming names, can you tell us if someone dies in the Buffy finale? Yes. Someone dies to save Andrew's life. After that person is gone, Andrew says, "I can't believe BLANK died to save my life." And another Scooby says, "Yeah, BLANK was always doing stupid things."

From the_groosalugg: Why do I have the feeling that Spike is going to die?
Apparently, a lot of people are getting that "feeling" from another spoiler site. But I hear he does not die...he disappears. It is another Scooby who will bite the dust. Guesses?

From kelrose: Does Buffy die, again?
No.

I've already gotten several emails, asking me to back down the ranking on the Spike spoiler for episode 22. Hmm, do you think it more than a bit curious that I worded it as "Spike sacrifices himself to save the world", instead of "Spike dies". Remember, sacrifice doesn't necessarily equal death. Take Angel for example, Buffy sacrificed him to save the world, but did he actually die? As I stated when the rumor first broke, and even Wendy pointed out, even if it appeared to be death, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the final word. One thing that I've said all along when asked about the finale, with what little has been passed along, is that it will probably end with one big 'question mark'. I think this would qualify.

More interesting is her comment on Andrew, which opens up a wide scope of possible human shields. I would think that Xander or Anya is more than likely the target. Even though Emma talked about her departure before the season even began, I can't rule out Xander either. I have doubts that I would be Dawn, Willow, or Giles.

I've seen multiple posts on a call sheet for Episode 22. I'm posting here what Gianna posted at Fan Forum, but kudos also have to go to Super-Cub who passed along this info a couple of hours earlier.
