Spin-Off, Schedule

Quiet On The Set

Sean K. posted on the Buffista's board (link removed on request), that according to at least one industry site, a short demo of an untitled Buffy spin-off is in the works.

Well then, if it hasn't already been stated elsewhere in this thread, I thought I'd make it official...

In the new leads for the day, Mutant Enemy is listed as putting together a 20 minute "Untitled Buffy Spinoff" demo.

We may yet get new Jossverse next season after all.

Now I haven't been able to confirm this myself, and I do have to admit I'm curious why a demo would even be needed. My own impression is that the plans for next season are more developed than we are being led to believe, and that's partially the reason why I decided to bring up the spin-off speculation this week. But I wouldn't rule this out in any event. If it is accurate, then I would expect more information (or confirmation) in a few days.

Also, because it might have been overlooked because I updated after the fact, I appreciate all the fans of Spike who wrote to weigh in on one of the comments I made. When stating my reasoning for Spike not being in a spin-off, I lumped all Spike fans into the category of Buffy/Spike fans. Obviously, there are many pure Spike fans, who would have no problem with him alone, or in a relationship with Faith or another character.

It's probably a good time to also remind those who are taking my speculation a bit too literally, that the title of this page is Spoilery Speculation. So it's a little bit of both, and I think I've been pretty honest in both the fact that it is my own speculation, and my track record when doing so. It also shouldn't be taken as what I would like to see as a spin-off. It should be pretty well known that I'm a big fan of Dawn as a character, and personally I would have liked to have seen 'Dawn, The Vampire Slayer'.

Though with yesterday's news, my ideal Spin-Off would now be titled 'SIT Pillow Fight'.

March Madness

ECH mentioned it and Fraz has posted as well, announcing the next date we'll be seeing new Buffy after Sweeps. As I somewhat expected, March 25th is the scheduled airdate for 'Lies My Parents Told Me'.
