News For The Day First

News For The Day

First up, I want to make a note of a change of writer status. It appears that Episode 13 and 14 changed hands, with Steven DeKnight now doing 13 and Doug Petrie doing 14. There are conflicting reports. Originally, Doug Petrie was confirmed for Episode 13, which Steven D. told the Bronze on November 2nd. However, according to other sources, supposedly Jane Espenson told the Bronze on the 15th of November, that Steven was doing 13 and Doug 14. With Steven's comments about trying to get Episode 13 done, that kind of points to the fact that the switch may have indeed taken place. You'll notice the change on the Spoiler Slayer page.

Also, leading into the new spoilers, Kathy was kind enough to tell me where the rumors of a car wreck originated. It was in a post on FanForum, where Sweetie talking about some other false spoilers. She mentioned that if there was a car wreck in the summary, then it might be true. Which is what started that rolling. Which then leads to this posting on JamesMarsters.com

I've seen some speculation on the title and whether Dawn is involved in a car wreck. I thought I'd share what was passed on to me.

- Dawn wrecks *herself* after Willow scares her half to death with black eyes and being in a trance. Dawn can't find Buffy and *drives* to find *someone* (Tara), but she wrecks on the way, totaling Buffy's mom's car and giving herself a concussion. (the police mumble that this is Buffy's sister so they don't expect anything less and that they'll "keep and eye" on Revello Drive)

- Spike does ignore Buffy, but Dawn's wreck gets them talking. He tells her he's just there for the Niblet, and she tells him she doesn't care why he's there, just that he's there, because she can't keep doing it alone. Spike asks her if she knows what she is yet and she tells him that the chip was wrong, he asks if she needs another demonstration but she doesn't reply.

- Willow feels guilty about what happened and explains to Buffy that she was just trying "some new magick" and Dawnie got spooked. Buffy (who knows the truth about the warlock) tells her she can try all the new magick she wants from her new place and gives her 24 hours to get out.

- Xander sides with Buffy on Willow getting out, then turns on Buffy for not being there for Dawn. Willow/Xander/Buffy will have a very loud fight that leaves everyone with hurt feelings and strained relationships. Their relationships are "wrecked".

- Buffy and Spike don't sleep together in this episode, but they do kiss at the end and it leads you to believe that they'll take it to Buffy's room.

What doesn't happen is the gang finding out about Buffy/Spike. Spike avoids Buffy for most of the episode. SHE keeps coming to him with questions about Willow and her attitude. Spike is the one who shows Buffy where the warlock is, but when Buffy tries to defeat him, he vanishes. So the gang doesn't find out that Buffy and Spike slept together yet, but I'm pretty sure Dawn stumbles in on something in a later episode and gets riled up.

Which I'm going to say are iffy at best, if only because the poster was anonymous. It was also here that we first heard about the entire Buffy/Dawn/Spike group hug spoiler, so I'm highly skeptical. Again, I think it's a case of someone trying to manufacture summaries that fit to spoilers that are out there. It's just the little bits that keep on ringing false. For example, no matter how mad Buffy might be, I don't see her giving a 24-hour ultimatum. While I can see Xander mad at Willow, how can he lash out at Buffy about Dawn when she does have to be patrolling most of the time. Plus, I doubt Spike is going to ignore Buffy and how would Buffy know about the warlock is Willow didn't tell her first? Little things that just don't add up. Could be wrong, but it just doesn't feel right. By this time tomorrow morning, we'll know for sure.
